I just got up. It's 4pm, and that means it's almost time to get high again.

I can barely figure out anything about anything. I dont have time to be a coward, or brave, and I hate everything equally, and nothing more than myself.

Bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

enoch says...

oh this post just fucking pissed me off.
i have long refused to suckle at the giant teat of iranian propaganda, and what is happening to the common people who are protesting is egregious in its violence.maybe americans and british should pay attention, this might be foreshadowing.
on it own, this post would be noble, even praiseworthy, but to call americans cowards?
bold words coming from a panty waist sitting in his boxers typing on a keyboard.
sad thing is,i actually agree that consumerism=slavery.that most americans have no clue.
but thats not COWARDICE,thats IGNORANCE,get your nouns right dipshit.
so..
you wanna play "horror-troll" do ye?
ok..ill take your shooting and raise ya:
one "active-denial system" massacre of beit hanoun.
http://sabbah.biz/mt/archives/2006/11/13/us-officers-planned-the-beit-hanoun-massacre/
they used microwaves to do this..MICROWAVES..isreal+america,yet ask an american if he knows about this.ill tell ya..they dont.
do you think it is ONLY in iran,or palestine, chechnya, bosnia, somolia etc etc where horrendous violent acts against humans happens?
do you think america is soley responsible?
while america for the past 50 years has been the greatest aggregator of violence and bloodshed for global hegemony.you think they did it ALONE?
FUCK...your stupidity is making my brain hurt..how can you arbitrarily blame a countries people?
the network of elites who use their money, power and influence to perpetuate their own status quo at the cost of the majority is nothing new to human history.
for FUCKS sake boy! it was the AMERICAN PEOPLE who stopped the vietnam war!!
but it was only when the truth of the war, fair and honest reporting, and the revelation of the gulf of tonkin came out.
so instead of sitting at your chair and feeling clever, maybe you should take the time to consider that you admonish a people who just DONT KNOW.
what i DO know is that you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about.
fuck this and fuck you..
cowards..phhht..
asshat ..l..

imstellar28 says...

enoch,

Its not the violence I'm concerned with, its the courage it took that girl to say "NO." The internal fortitude it takes to give up the safety of your slavery and risk your life for what you believe in.

I say Americans are cowards, because unlike the Iranians they don't have the courage to say "NO," they just quietly murmur "yes we can" while slowly marching to the death of old age, in shackles.

enoch says...

imstellar,
nothing in your reply rebutts my comment.
in fact it reinforces my statements.
your ability to presume is matched only by your arrogance to post such a blatant TROLL video.
the sad thing is,
you could have posted this video and got a great discussion going.
people on the sift might have shared information, thoughts and views.
it could have been glorious.
instead you chose to go the cheap route and titillate.
all to further your own agenda.
you should be ashamed, not self righteous.
using the graphic death of another human being to get your own ideology across.
shame on you.

imstellar28 says...

budzos,
Why does this link make me a douche? Because I called a group you belong to cowards? Because you were upset at the video? I don't get it.

dystopianfuturetoday,
Please show the place in my post where I am equating my personal politics to the struggle in Iran. I read it again and I can't see it.

enoch,
I can't post this video because it is too graphic. Your comment is that I am a troll. Why am I a troll when I post relevant content and write how it makes me feel along with it? This video makes me angry, as it appears to make you. Question is why are you angry at me for showing it to you?

Farhad2000,
Again, I don't see how you got this from my post, can you explain that? I explained why I posted the video, and then I explained why I called Americans cowards, I never said "Iran = America". Still, lets address it. This protest was triggered by election fraud, unless I am missing the point (if so please help me out). You don't think theres election fraud in America, at the presidential level none the less? If not fraud, politicians being bought and sold? Is it not different in degree, not kind?

All,
Why are you projecting your feelings from this video on ME? As opposed to Iran, America, or yourself? It seems as if rather than internalize this, you would just brush it aside (onto me) ...just as in other areas of life. Ironically, this is the crux of the problem.

YOU are responsible for the world we live in.

Psychologic says...

Yes, Americans are cowards.

No American has ever been beaten senseless for standing up to police abuse.
No one volunteers for the military knowing that they will be sent into combat.
Not one American has died from traveling to a hostile country to help the oppressed or poverty stricken.

Nope, all Americans do is sit at their computers complaining about what others are unwilling to do.

imstellar28 says...

^Americans as a socio-political unit are cowards, Americans as individuals are either brave or cowardly.

One person standing up to police brutality is not enough to start a revolution. 100 people aren't enough, not even a thousand or ten thousand.

MILLIONS are needed, and there just aren't enough individuals in this country who aren't cowards. If there were, we wouldn't have rigged elections, 72 year old grandmas being tasered, citizens being tortured in guantuamo bay, and over 100,000 Iraqis killed by our military.

Please explain how one can arrive at any other conclusion.

Hah, I wondered how many feathers I could ruffle. Two so far.

"Ruffling feathers" for a reaction on a webpage - is called being a troll- and nothing to be proud of. Don't be a troll. It adds nothing to our community and is fairly destructive.

Oh come on! Don't join the douche squad, dag. Every single comment on videosift is to elicit some sort of response. Trolling is to continually harass or go after negative response, see the billorelly account. I just mocked keyboard cat, and all the dingbats who put it on everything (and made slight of dying Iranians). I'm surprised at the joyous reception blankfist got in his transcendent response: http://www.videosift.com/talk/Americans-are-cowards#comment-790546 and the "bwaa buuuh beat him back under his bridge" response mine got. It's the same damn thing; I mock keyboard cat and modern entertainment, "Executions - only on fox!", and all of a sudden the tears roll down the streets of videosift.

People cry too much. Whiners.

In the words of my avatar, I apologize for nothing!

EndAll says...

Choose slavery? Who would do such a thing?

Once you find out, what you do from there can determine whether or not you are a coward. As enoch said though, a lot of people are in the dark; automatons just living their lives. The things in Iran they see as problems "over there" that don't affect them and that they think they won't ever have to experience. When it happens in America, you can make your call. But I already know of many who are willing and waiting for the chance to fight back just like this brave young girl did.

I agree. I don't know why there wasn't civil war in reaction to what Bush did.

I don't know why John McCain got more than 1% of the vote.

I don't know why you think the revolution against actions perpetrated by Bush should begin when Obama's in the White House.

I don't know why you're surprised when people misunderstand you, and get upset with you, when you start the conversation by calling most readers cowards.

The protests in Iran have been beautiful, and I hope they work.

I wonder if we'd have done the same thing if McCain had been announced the winner with 67% of the vote before the polls had even closed. I hope so, though I doubt they'd have waited a week before spraying gunfire at protesters.

We're not here to try and out outrageous each other. Please leave controversial, contrarian type comments. Just make them ones that you actually believe in- not just trying to shock everyone else. Seriously, that's 4Chan- and I don't want us to go that way.

Mainly you're a douche because this video has nothing to do with Americans. You think you're being provocative, or insightful, but you're just revealing yourself as a vapid fucking douche.

(PS fuck you)

Girl dying in the street -> Killed during protests over fraudulent elections -> Unarmed civilians against an armed dictatorship -> Takes courage -> America is fucked up as well (fraudulent elections, torture, wars, imperialism, socialism) -> America has done little to nothing about it -> Americans don't protest anymore -> Iranians do -> Iranians don't tolerate oppression -> Americans don't care because they have Starbucks and SUVs -> Americans are cowards.

Sample train of thought relating this video to Americans. I'm not generalizing individuals I'm using a word to describe the actions of a group of people residing in a geographical location.

This video makes me very angry about what is happening in Iran, but it also makes me very angry about what is happening in my own country. Comparing the response of the Iranians with the response of the Americans, makes me very angry at not only the American government, but the American people.

Americans have slaughtered 100,000 innocent people in the last decade, you don't think that warrants a reaction similar to that given by the protesters in Iran?

The Dali Llama's (current dude.. regardless of his possible past misdeeds in tibet) response when asked how he can deal with all the horrible things in the world.

In effect he says:

In my world, those things don't happen.

Meaning, when it comes down to YOU, when it IS in your power.. you do the right thing.

Not taking arms to my government, which consists mainly of my fellow citizens TRYING to live their own lives, does not make me a coward.

I am a coward for completely different reasons. They have nothing to do with apathy, or aquiesing, or ignorance, or fear of the world. It's because I know myself.

I have faith, though I am not religious, and my faith is that life goes on, and trends to justice, and that I can be a part of that. My faith overcomes the fear and makes me strong... not so strong I can avoid engaging in petty arguments like whether or not an entire nation's population is cowardly... but it keeps me going, and I have faith one day I wont be afraid of myself.

Should we kill more in response to killing? Stellar, I dont think violence works; logically it only begets more violence. So... You have no logic here, no ethical ground to attack from, and your emotional argument is just that: reactionary and spastic. No one is a coward here except for the sniper. Not even you.

And here is Buff Stewie to lighten the mood (or worsen if yer a hater) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0xq1Y1H1Qo

There may be a time in my life when watching a video this like doesn't evoke emotion, of anger or sadness; emotion which maybe erases what sense of rationality I may have.
I hope that day never comes.

lol... Why does this remind of those overly dramatic Spanish soap operas? I can see you saying this with long pauses and ending with the back of your hand resting on your forehead.

I know you are serious, but how did you think it is a good idea to demean what happened to that girl so that you can connect it to your personal issue?

We all lose rational thought to passion or emotion at times. It's important to note that passion is different than emotion. Losing rationality to emotion isn't a virtue. It's a fact of life, but not one to be heralded as a positive attribute. Or at least in my mind.

I say unto you: America invented bacon.

Not Canadian bacon, not Irish bacon but the bacon that does not need any qualifier and brings all people together in its deliciousness (well, except for the PETA people, but they don't deserve bacon).

If there is no higher symbol of freedom, equality, hope, and the general goodness of the world, nay, the universe; Bacon should be spelled with a capital B.

You clearly don't understand, and I am sorry for that.
